Summary

Rafkin-Mervis has been with the University of Miami's Diabetes Research Institute (DRI), a recognized world leader in cure-focused research, for more than 20 years. There she provides direction and expertise in the area of informed consent and development of patient education and recruitment materials. She coordinates study-wide operations between the DRI, NIH, and the Type 1 Diabetes TrialNet Coordinating Center.

Education

Rafkin-Mervis earned a B.S in Community Nutrition at Cornell University in New York and a M.S. in Nutrition Communications at Boston University.

Recognition

Rafkin-Mervis is a member of the Protocol Development Team and Executive Committee at the Diabetes Research Institute. She has authored articles published in Clinical Diabetes and the International Diabetes Monitor. She also authored the DRI publication, Nutrition and Diabetes: Integral Partners in Care (1992).
