Dr. Becker is an internationally recognized expert in the treatment and prevention of diabetes in children, and she has lectured to audiences all over the world. She is board certified in Pediatrics and Pediatric Endocrinology.

Education

Dr. Becker received her medical degree from the University of Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa; and completed residencies at Baragwanath Hospital, Johannesburg, South Africa; Red Cross Hospital, Cape Town, South Africa; and Groote Schuur Hospital, Cape Town, South Africa. She completed fellowships at the University of Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa; University of Cape Town, Cape Town, South Africa; and Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh.

Recognition

Dr. Becker's many honors include the McEllroy Award from the University of Pittsburgh Medical Alumni Association, the Founder's Award from the Midwest Society of Pediatric Research, and the Award for Outstanding Contribution to Diabetes in Youth from the American Diabetes Association. She has served on the board of the Juvenile Diabetes Association-Western Pennsylvania and on the board and as president of the local affiliate of the American Diabetes Association. Dr. Becker is listed as a "Best Doctor" in Pittsburgh and national surveys. She has served on study sections and committees for the National Institutes of Health.
